OUR OPINION

Well, I love Anna Faris and she is quite hilarious in almost every movie she has ever starred in. *Meh*... minus take Me Home Tonight, which was extremely unimpressive JMO. In my humble opinion, So she doesn't disappoint (me) in this movie. I have heard mixed reviews about this movie, but it is what it is. A romantic comedy that isn't the best movie I have ever seen, but also not the worst either.

Anna Faris looks like she has had a bit too much tanning, lip injections, and boob jobs.. but other than that....  :)

She stars as a hopeless unlucky in love typical blonde who finds out that she is almost to the number twenty! No, not age! The number of guys she has slept with has almost reached that number. After being fired from work (on a subway) she is reading a Cosmo (?) don't quote me on that, but definitely a women's sex magazine.. (yes! That's what Cosmopolitan is!! It claims to be about fashion & advice.. but only if you are looking for sex advice. It touches on beauty and fashion, but it's main headlines do seem to be focused on sex.) Which I love sex, so- totally fine with me! HA!   which upon reading she finds an article stating that after 20 lovers, a woman's chance at having a successful relationship/marriage is next to none. This prompts her, (since her sister is getting married) to ask their girlfriends (after she embarrasses herself at the engagement party that is..) how many lovers they have had. Doing this- is how she finds out she is "kind-of slutty" and needs to go back and try another chance at love with one of her exes, so she doesn't "go over".

Ok, so shoddy premise aside, like I said, it was a good movie. Of course, she ends up falling in love. I don't want to spoil it for you, so I am not going to tell you with whom, but it was typical of a romantic comedy. Always the one they fight so hard not to fall in love with, and they always have a happy ending. Which leads me to think... what if she didn't fall in love with the person you wanted her to, as the movie (and past movie history) suggests she will fall in love with by the end of the movie?

It reminds me that movies are damned if they do and damned if they don't. They can actually be funny (like this one) and have a good ending, like this one. But they just end up looking corny. And even if they do end with a surprise and not as expected or as typically they do, then you are mad because they didn't. So if they do- they are boring, and if they don't- then you are mad that they didn't. Poor directors and screenwriters! Then, we have those rare movies, like Planet of the Apes, out earlier this year, which end with no real ending, like an open ended question, what happened? What will happen next? Like they are made to be set up to be a trilogy, or at the very least have a sequel. Worst part is.. some of them never do make another and then you never know. I can only hope there is another Planet of the Apes soon. But this one is not like that. I say it's a great movie, and I love the actors in it. Although there were some genuinely funny jokes, especially the gynecologist part, and the government scene(s) It was no My Best Friends Girl, Friends with Benefits, or Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Wedding Crashers, or even Zack & Miri Make a Porno (some of the best romantic comedies of recent times). It did have some great punch lines, though.

Of course, had I have written it, I would've done it differently. I would've had more sex in it, I would've made the character sleep with a good bit of the ex's. One thing that bothered me was; in the preview to the movie it shows her running into the puppet guy (Movie spoiler right here, next few words) the guy who took her virginity in the park.. Yet, they never show that part in the movie at all. They only mention him briefly when she is reflecting on it. I only mention this because in the preview it looks like one of the more funny parts.. Strange..
So I recommend watching this movie?
Of course. I thought it was pretty cute!
