EPIC BATTLES COME TO LIFE ON STUNNING
BLU-RAY

THE VILLAINOUS MICKEY ROURKE

Featuring Alternate Beginning and Endings Visually-Striking Film Explodes on 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Triple Play and DVD March 6

One brave warrior, touched by the gods, must overcome all odds to save mankind from a merciless and powerful tyrant when IMMORTALS comes to Blu-ray and DVD on March 6th from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Directed by visionary filmmaker Tarsem Singh (The Cell, The Fall) and written by Charles Parlapanides and Vlas Parlapanides, the home entertainment release is chock-full of must-see bonus features including an alternate beginning, two alternate endings, deleted scenes and an amazing graphic novel, creating the ultimate viewing experience.

From the producers of 300, Mark Canton, Gianni Nunnari, and Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh, IMMORTALS explodes off the screen with action-packed battles, mythological adventure and an all-star cast including: Henry Cavill (Superman: Man of Steel), Luke Evans (Robin Hood), Kellan Lutz (Twilight), Isabel Lucas (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen), Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), Stephen Dorff (Public Enemies), John Hurt (Hellboy) and Mickey Rourke (Iron Man 2). In this epic tale of vengeance and destiny, power-mad King Hyperion (Rourke) threatens to destroy all of humanity on his maniacal quest to obtain the ultimate weapon – the legendary Epirus Bow that gives the power to unleash war on both Heaven and Earth.  But Theseus (Cavill), a heroic young villager chosen by the gods, rises up to stop Hyperion’s brutal rampage.  With supernatural help from the beautiful oracle Phaedra (Pinto), Theseus embraces his destiny and leads a fierce band of warriors in a desperate fight for the future of mankind.

Throughout Mickey Rourke’s extended career as an actor and a retired boxer, he’s appeared in numerous leading roles in action, drama and thriller films where he’s often played the villain, including his role in Immortals as the evil King Hyperion who seeks to release the Titans and destroy humanity. In celebration of the release of IMMORTALS on 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Triple Play and DVD on March 6, we will take a look back on some of Rourke’s past villainous roles.

Whiplash in “Iron Man 2”

Rourke plays Ivan Antonovich Vanko, otherwise known as Whiplash, in the 2010 sequel of Iron Man.  Vanko is a disgruntled physicist and Bratva member with a grudge against the Stark family.  A son of a former collaborator of Tony Stark’s father, Vanko’s father was fired and deported back to the Soviet Union and was forced to live in exile.  To avenge his family’s name and kill Stark, Vanko builds his own arc reactor-based weapon and soon becomes Whiplash.

Stavros in “Double Team”

In the 1997 film, Double Team, Mickey Rourke stars opposite Jean-Claue Van Damme and Dennis Rodman, in which he plays a terrorist named Stavros who’s stolen plutonium from a US military based with the intention of selling it to Iraq.  His arch-nemesis is Van Damme’s character, anti-terrorist agent named Jack Paul Quinn, whom he blamed for the death of his six-year old son and has taken a personal vendetta against him.

Blackbird in “Killshot”

Based on the 1989 novel of the same name, Killshot is the a thriller about an innocent couple who despite being placed under the Federal Witness Protection program after witnessing an “incident,” are confronted by the professional assassin and his rookie partner that they outed.  Rourke plays the more experienced of the two criminals, Blackbird, a Mafia hitman whose resourceful skills enables him to track his victims down.

Villain in Enrique Iglesias “Hero”

Jennifer Love Hewiit was not the only celebrity who made a cameo in Enrique Iglesias’ music video for his song Hero off the record of the same name. The video features Iglesias being hunted by his enemies across the desert.  Love-Hewitt plays his love interest while Mickey Rourke plays the leader of the men hunting him down.  The confrontation between the two men leads to Iglesias’ death in the video.

HOTTIES WITH BODIES: THE MEN OF IMMORTALS

Immortals may not seem like your typical chick-flick but it’s certainly a film that even the ladies can enjoy thanks to the eye candy provided by the almost all-male cast.  In celebration of the release of IMMORTALS on 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Triple Play and DVD on March 6, we will introduce you to some hotties with bodies – the men of Immortals

Henry Cavill – in the role of Theseus

Best known for his role as Charles Brandon in the hit Showtime series The Tudors, Henry Cavill makes his starring role debut on the big screen as Theseus in Immortals after having lost a few major roles to some of Hollywood’s leading actors, including Robert Pattinson to whom he lost the role of Edward Cullen to and Daniel Craig, who eventually landed the role of James Bond in Casino Royale.  Fans of Cavill shouldn’t worry as he’ll be suiting up for his biggest role yet come 2013 when he stars as Superman in Man of Steel

Stephen Dorf – in the role of Stavros

Steven Dorf is known for being one of Hollywood’s bad-boy and though his career started off with minor television roles and guest spots in music videos – you may remember him as Britney Spears’ not-so-ideal boyfriend in her music video for Everytime – he’s worked with some incredible talent, including renowned filmmaker Sofia Coppola and Elle Fanning in Somewhere.  After Immortals, Dorf can next be seen starring along side another Fanning sister, Dakota, as Jerry Lee Flannigan in The Motel Life.

Kellan Lutz – in the role of Poseidon

The global success of Twilight catapulted Kellan Lutz’s career, instantly making him a household name for his role as Emmett Cullen, especially in the tweens demographic. Though Lutz may be the strongest vampire of the Cullen clan, he had to bulk up an additional 25 pounds of muscle to play Greek god Poseidon in Immortals.  Lutz and his abs can next be seen in the final installment of the Twilight saga – Breaking Dawn Part 2.

Luke Evans – in the role of Zeus

Luke Evans’ career can be best described as very storybook-like in that he’s portrayed some of literature’s most famous characters including Aramis in 2011’s The Three Musketeers, the Sun-god Apollo in Clash of the Titans, and the king of the gods Zeus in Immortals.  Next up, the Welsh theater and film actor can be seen in Peter Jackson’s two-part adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit where he’ll continue his literary streak.

Joseph Morgan – in the role of Lysander

Joseph Morgan may not be a familiar name in the US but this British actor is fast becoming Hollywood’s up and coming star.  Having had supporting roles in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, alongside Russell Crowe and in Alexander, which stars Colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie,  Morgan made his leading role debut in the big screen in Immortals in the role of Lysander.  He continues his re-occurring role in the small screen in CW’s hit vampire series, The Vampire Diaries where he portrays a pureblood vampire named Klaus.

PX Supply

PX Supply is the online go-to for Military members and their family. Really, anybody can shop there, you don't have to be a dependent or enlisted.
In fact, you can even buy some combat boots of your own while your there. Having a husband in the US Navy can be challenging,  but purchasing for them shouldn't have to be! The site has many areas of interest to me, even a kids section! Most of the stuff is really cute too!

We picked the Pink Camo Kids T-Shirt, what's neat about it is; Devonny can wear it and it fits big on her, and Giana can also wear it and it fits just right. So they kind-of fought about it. They recently changed Noah's work uniform to the Digital Blues (which is a Blue Camo print) so Giana thought it would be cool to wear a pattern her Daddy wears! That shirt sells for $9.95. That's a pretty good deal, no?

We also had them send us another Navy Issue PT Shirt, because as any military wife knows, you can never have too many of those. So even though PX is Army, and NEX is Navy, you can still get some Navy things there, and I was unaware of that before, so that was also pretty cool!
The PT shirt sells for $16.98.

GENUINE MILITARY ISSUE US NAVY PT T-SHIRT WITH MOISTURE WICKING 100% POLYESTER SILVER REFLECTIVE PRINT ON FRONT AND BACK SAME AS SOLD IN NAVY EXCHANGES TAGLESS MADE IN THE U.S.A. MADE BY JENSEN APPAREL!

Touchy Touchy- what separates a giveaway from a contest?

I have a little problem.
The sponsors of LoE do not seem to understand that I do not want to break the law in order to have them featured here.
The FTC governs all of us, and whether or not they do it often, you don't want to be made an example out of.
For instance, if a sponsor requests that I have an entrant go to their site and tell me something, I have just moved it from a giveaway, which is actually called a sweepstakes to a contest. Because you ask a question they have to answer, that means you are requiring them to have a skill. *sighs* IKR!
This used to not be a problem (the "tasks") before, and I (unknowingly) would do it in the past. That is- until I became aware Blogger can take down my blog, and I could be legally prosecuted for doing so. Here's why:
You see...
if you assign a blog entrant to "do" something, then it moves it from a giveaway/sweepstakes into the category "contest" which is governed by different rules.

In addition, I had to take away Canadian winners, because they HAVE to answer a skill question.
ALSO.. moving on...
You cannot have a mandatory entry. Entrants must be able to enter easily. Your Facebook mandatory option would be discriminatory against people who do NOT have a Facebook, and they wouldn't have a way to enter. When I found all the info out, I immediately changed my blog, and took away "mandatory" entries. They are all optional now, in addition, they must have rules where they can be easily found, so my site now has that as well.
I'm just trying to cover my own ass (pardon my french)
Here's another article:  http://www.socialmediaexplorer.com/digital-marketing/sweepstakes-contests-bloggers/
In addition, the FTC is very touchy about Facebook in giveaways.

My freaking head is spinning and all I know is some sponsors, are going to have to deal with it.
*Sorry* take it up with the FTC.
The legalities
Now please... if I misconstrued any of this information, feel free to correct me, for I am no lawyer.
But in any case. *Ahem*!
I am super curious to what you guys have to say about this, entrants & bloggers alike!
Let's talk, I'd appreciate some insight!!!!

Introducing Ecover, and discussing harmful chemicals in household items...

When you start having children, you really do start to think about things you've never given much thought to. For me it was; "Are the chemicals I am using to clean my home really safe?"
Perhaps you have heard of a little company called Ecover? If not, they are a leading company, sold in many stores such as Publix or Lowes, or your local health food store most likely. If you want to see where to find it, then enter your zip code hereI can personally vouch for them, as I have been purchasing for quite a while. In fact, their Press Relations just sent me these three things, and I am excited to share them with you a best selling item from each of the lines.

Here's what I was sent:

(Just to let you know though, they have stopped production on their car and boat items.)

Also, to let you know.... all of the items sent to me worked wonderfully, as expected, and I do recommend you buy them. They are just as affordable as other cleaners.  I mean, who are we kidding? People put off buying natural cleaning products because they are expensive? *Scoffs* Have you seen the price of a so-called "good" laundry detergent. Come on now- really?

You can also shop their online store and find something helpful without worrying about your impact on the environment. The chemicals in many household cleaners are carcinogens and very harmful to ground water.

I found this information on this site.

The eight ingredients (below) in household cleaning and home maintenance products that are of particular concern because they are carcinogens, endocrine disrupters or known or suspected reproductive toxins. They are also the most commonly found in household products.

Ecover is one of the safer environmentally-conscious manufacturers that you may want to consider.

2-butoxyethanol
Used as a solvent in carpet cleaners and specialty cleaners. It can be inhaled or absorbed through the skin and may cause blood disorders, as well as liver and kidney damage.

Ethoxylated nonyl phenols (NPEs)
This is a group of endocrine-disrupting chemicals still used in cleaning products. The threat posed to the environment by nonyl phenols prompted the European Union to ban them from all cleaning products manufactured or used in the EU.

Methylene chloride
For years, people have been using methylene chloride, or products containing methylene chloride, as a paint stripper. Methylene chloride is listed as a possible human carcinogen (Group 2B) by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).

In 1987, regulators in the U.S. compelled manufacturers to put warning labels on products containing methylene chloride. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that since that time, there has been a 55 per cent reduction in the number of cancers that would have been caused by these products.

Naphthalene
or another chemical called paradichlorobenzene, is used in moth balls and moth crystals. Naphthalene is listed by California's Office of Environmental Health Hazards Assessment as a substance "know to the state to cause cancer," while paradichlorobenzene is listed by IARC as a possible human carcinogen.

Silica
Made from finely ground quartz, silica is carcinogenic when it occurs as fine respirable dust.

Toluene
Toluene is a potent reproductive toxin, which is used as a solvent in numerous products, including paints. Toluene is listed by California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment as a reproductive toxin that may cause harm to the developing fetus. Pregnant women should certainly not use products containing toluene.

Trisodium nitrilotriacetate (NTA)
Used as a builder in laundry detergents, NTA is listed as a possible human carcinogen (IARC 2B) by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. It also has an adverse environmental impact because it can impede the elimination of metals in wastewater treatment plants.

Xylene
Another extremely toxic ingredient that is often found in graffiti and scuff removers, spray paints and some adhesives, is xylene, a suspected reproductive toxin that has shown reproductive harm in laboratory experiments. It is also a neurotoxicant that can cause memory loss on repeated exposure.

Bleach (Sodium hypochlorite)
When bleach is mixed with acids (typically found in toilet bowl cleaners), it reacts with them to form chlorine gas. When it is mixed with ammonia, it can create chloramine gas, another toxic substance.

In the environment, sodium hypochlorite is acutely toxic to fish. The chlorine in bleach can also bind with organic material in the marine environment to form organochlorines, toxic compounds that can persist in the environment.
There may be some circumstances where bleach use is necessary for disease control, but there is little need for it on a regular basis.

Phosphates
Phosphates were a high-profile public issue three decades ago when streams and lakes were becoming choked with vegetation in a chemical process known as eutrophication. The process was the result of widespread use of phosphates in laundry products which produced nutrients for algae and other aquatic plants as phosphate-rich wastewater entered the environment.
Manufacturers have since reduced or even eliminated phosphates from laundry products, but no action has ever been taken on dishwasher detergents. Most of the products available from major manufacturers contain 30-40 per cent phosphates.

As you can see, many cleaning products are simply not safe. If I speak this around older people, they will say, and I quote, "We used them and we're fine."
I say; "Better safe than sorry."
Products from alternative manufacturers such as Ecover are a much better environmental choice.
