spanking doesnt solve anything

Spank out day.
I wrote a blog post about why we don't hit our children. So today is National Spank Out day and I encourage everyone if you do use cor pal punishment to stop just for today and think about other ways you can discipline your children without violence. If it works for today then why not do this everyday? I will admit I am a "former spanker", I had Jake when I was very young and I didn't know any better. I have not used spanking or hitting to discipline for several years. I have noticed a positive change in his attitude and behavior. I will admit there have been time when I have thought to myself "if I could just give him one good spanking he would do better". I know that was just because I was frustrated and over whelmed. If you have time today spread the word about spank out day! Small defenseless children to not deserve to be hit.

Ten Reasons for NOT Hitting Children

Physical punishment increases the
risk of child abuse. It is easy to hit too hard and cause injuries like bruises,
broken bones, welts, and nerve damage.

Physical punishment erodes trust between a parent and a child.

Physical punishment, when administered regularly, is related to a
worsening of behavior rather than an improvement in behavior. It increases
antisocial behavior such as lying, stealing, cheating, bullying, assaulting
siblings or peers, and lack of remorse for wrongdoing.

Hitting children transmits a pro-violence attitude. It teaches that it
is acceptable to hit persons who are smaller and weaker.

Fear is not an effective way of teaching appropriate behavior. Fear may
lead children to obey only when the person who hits them is nearby.

Children who are frequently hit often grow up with childhood memories
of anger and resentment.

Children are often hit for behavior which is not "bad" behavior but
rather behavior which is related to needs for attention, nutrition, sleep, and
exploring.

Hitting a child for misbehavior means the caretaker loses an important
opportunity to teach a more appropriate behavior.

While hitting a child may stop a misbehavior for the moment, other
methods like time out, reasoning, talking, and implementing non-violent
consequences work as well or better and do not have the potential for harm that
hitting children does.

Better alternatives exist. Children learn best through teaching,
discussing, and observing adults who model responsible, caring and
self-disciplined behavior.

Ten Guidelines for Effective Discipline of Children

The goal of discipline is to teach children acceptable behavior.

Whenever possible, teach children what you want to see rather than punishing them.

View children's misbehavior as a mistake in judgment. It will be easier to think of ways to teach more acceptable behavior.

Never hit or shake infants. They do not know right and wrong. They do not misbehave on purpose. They need love and protection, not punishment.

Create a safe environment for children. Baby-proof the house.

Distract or remove infants and toddlers when they are doing something they shouldn't be doing.

Provide order and consistency. Whenever possible have regular times for meals, studying and bedtime.

Give toddlers and preschoolers age-appropriate choices and consequences.

Establish family rules that are appropriate for children's ages.

Keep them few in number with clear and reasonable consequences for not obeying.

Develop a trusting relationship with children by protecting them from harm, by being honest and trustworthy, and by exhibiting predictable and mature behavior.

Children need to hear more good things about themselves than bad things. Offer praise for appropriate behavior. Praise will increase that behavior.

Adopt a "no-hitting" attitude. No one has a right to hit anyone else in the household...that includes hitting children for misbehavior.

u know what i feel like talking about 2day?

two things...

a) plz some1 follow my blog- i have myself following (yea thats pretty pathetic>>>>) and my good friend Nicole! :( thats it! so i went on a quest to follow all kinds of blogs and i have. hopefully they will return the favor!

b) does anyone besides me think that the "giveaways" that YOU ARE REQUIRED to check back on and confirm your own entry to win are just plain silly?

bc i know that even if some1 did enter just that giveaway - they might forget to check back in a timely manner or like me, say i can be kinda organized about some things, and the total opposite end of the spectrum disorganized on others- its a real struggle for me. so when i bookmark something (and i bookmark EVERYTHING) with then intentions on revisiting. i either forget or cant find the bookmark! LOL
but honestly we all enter a bunch, so i think its silly.

anyway thats it for now. ta ta!

UGH! annoyed!

IS EVERYONE AS SICK OF THESE EMAILS AS ME? IS THERE ANYONE THAT ACTUALLY FALLS FOR THEM?
i say, what everyone everywhere start doing is opening up your own spam email adress at aol, yahoo, gmail, or hotmail and start writing them back- syaing ok- so where do you want me t send them money- and let them actually think we are going to send it to them, but act like we dont understand like we need clarification, then ask for their phone numbers, and- prank call the hell outta them, then tell them your about to get thrown out of your house, can they please send you 200$
or maybe even just 20? anything would help!
thats what i say the solution to THIS (as noted in the fwd below) problem is. i get these emails with some real frequency as i enter sweepstakes and request samples- the ones that never show are duh SPAMMERS_ however they do go about getting their email adresses, i say lets F**K w them the way we do telemarketers! LMAO!!!!

freee coconut oil

http://one2try.blogspot.com/2009/08/tropical-traditions-virgin-coconut-oil.html

http://vickieb52.blogspot.com/2009/08/tropical-traditions-virgin-coconut-oil.html#comment-form

FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE BENEFITS OF COCONUT OIL- which i ironically (its true) was JUST researching 4 or 5 days before bc i bought my 1st jar of coconut oil and its "unrefined" and idk what the diff is bc there were 2 jars they both appeared to have same ingredients but one jar of coconut oil was for hair and skin (one i got which actually stinks) and the one that was for cooking and consumption .so i was TRYTING (and i never did fig it out either) to fig that out and i came across this website coconut research or some shit- and according to this - this is like the new miracle stuff- supposedly cure everything. so i was shocked and amazed to say the least but today i found this sweepstakes (ironic ain't it) giving away coconut oil and it doesn't appear to have very many entries yet and that is GOOD BC that means your odds are so much better... http://www.coconutresearchcenter.org/ also if anyone can answer this for me.. y in the world is it that oil such as olive oil- or coconuts- i thought only animals produced fat- fruit and vegetables aren't supposed to be fatty- wheres this oil in them. if you break open a coconut is oil floating on top on the inside? no, BC people drink them. if there was il in olives, then wouldn't it get hard on top of olive jar in fridge (float on top of vinegar??) oh lemme guess its been extracted. the olives in a jar claim to have absolutely no nutritional content besides sodium. basically. so how is it that olive oil is so good for you? and how do they go about extracting these oils we use? that's an amazing thought Ive never considered till the other day. canola oil is supposedly form corn but it corn had oil in it it would cook out on the sun- as would olives just fry outside while growing right? idk maybe i should watch a little more discovery channel!!!

Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil Review and Giveaway

"I've had the opportunity to try Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil and all I can say is WOW. I really love it's versatility. It has a very slight coconut scent and taste, but you don't really taste the coconut. I have used it in cooking, as a treatment on my hair and as a bath and body oil. It has become my bath oil of choice. A little goes a long way, I use 1/2 teaspoon of oil in my bath. It soaks into my skin fairly quickly and I love how my skin feels.

The French Toast made with the coconut oil turned out great as did the popcorn. We have used it for other cooking needs with success. One of the few things I don't care to use it for is salad dressings... the flavor of the dressing was very good, but I don't want to take the time to bring the dressing to room temperature before use. Coconut oil is a solid below about 76 degrees.

See, the problem was, for some reason RealPlayer, QuickTime and MediaPlayer just quit working and wouldn't play my k7@k7.net messages. If you ever have this problem, go to Accessories, then entertainment, and find your Sound Recorder. Then open and play the file from there. YAY ME! :D I have been building up messages for weeks, I had no Idea who they are from. But I got to listen to them all this AM! Anyway, whatever I'm just excited!

welcome me im new!

i still have 2 get a feel for this thing. I'm so used to myspace's blog. which i actually do love.but since a lot of ppl i know don't want or have a myspace - and this is a great way to connect with other ppl., i fig i would give it a try. ill try to be adult and not so PERVbyrded- but that is what makes me me.:Di need to fig out how to configure and gather me up some reader. which i have a lot of stuff (see? I'm doing good already i wanted to say *H*t ... HA! ) on my plate in the coming weeks. what with spring cleaning, or summer or fall or whatever season we are currently in, and organizing to get ready for my move at the end of the year. Ive got my gay friend who is currently going thru hard times, living on my couch, my sister is coming this wknd. i haven't even brushed my hair today, most days in fact. but why would i if I'm not going anywhere. I guess i should BC i just had an unexpected visitor drop in, and he saw me looking all shabby. Which was, rather embarrassing. Bug man, had to spray for spiders. God knows the spiders around here are atrocious. But what was i saying? i ramble a lot as you'll notice, which is why blogging is perfect for me. I Mostly use my myspace blog to share things and links and sites and songs and lyrics and videos that are meaningful to me that i don't want to clutter my myspace up with. cant figure out if facebook has a blog, or how to use it. or why you can only share things that are a few sentences. rather annoying. but anyway basically hope this isn't one of those unfinished and abandoned things that i am so notorious for.hopefully ill rem to come back here and customize, if you can do that- which I'm pretty DARN (see how good i m doing?) sure i can do, but might have to get Canonda to come over and school the whiz on.I'm so cool right?OK ~xo~BYRD
