Rockin Green makes eco-friendly cleaning fun, so #win this #giveaway! *CLOSED!*

***CLOSED!!!***

I love the environment, and I love my kids, but let's face it. I'm not a crunchy granola type mommy. I don't have any real desire to switch to cloth diapers anytime soon, especially since she is 20 months old and ready to potty train. Well, OK.. not just yet- but soon. You shush! Let a girl have some hope!
Anyway I do feel guilty. I know what kind of environmental havoc disposable diapers wreak on the environment. I just can't imagine scraping (or spraying) poop out of a cloth diaper and washing it in my washing machine - same as I do my other clothes. I don't care if they are washed TOGETHER or not! It's all the same to me, meaning they might as well be.
I know, I know, there are diaper services, even ones that deliver and pick-up cloth diapers and wash them clean. But I am not rich either.
So whats a girl to do?
I want to consider attempting to switch. Like I said, it's so late to start now.. but maybe it's better late than never?
To switch or not to switch?
Another thing that slows my roll is the cost. I know people say the initial cost is rewarded ten-fold and you actually save money. But I am not too convinced on that either to be honest. I would need like what? 20-30 inserts, and about 7-10 covers? At least to get a good start. Because I don't do laundry every day. It is my MOST despised chore next to sweeping, which is only because our house is tile/grout.
So, at 20 dollars a pop, x 10 covers = 200.
PLUS the inserts which are how much? I don't even know, lets say 5 bucks. I assume they are much more, but I might be wrong. Even at 5$ for 20 inserts, its 100 dollars.
So that's 100 +  200 and I have a baby who is closer to Two Years Old than 1, and who
MIGHT (I said let me hope!) potty train very soon. That's 300$ to switch! Crazy! It doesn't seem worth it for me to switch.
Plus, when you factor in, the heavy cost or running a washing machine (and dryer) on your power bill, plus buying detergent, and any other diapering accessories....
And for the mothers who say they use a pack of diapers a week? (most say they use 2) You change your child way too much. Or what are you feeding them is more the question.
Disagree with me if you must but I do not change her every-time she pees.
She probably only uses 5-6 diapers a day.
Depending.
I will admit, I know nothing about Cloth Diapering....

What about the environment?
Yes, I do care deeply about being green, but not in every aspect of my life. Just most. I don't think its a fine line to walk, and no errors can me made. In fact- I know how convenient it is to be uncaring. It's much easier to put the trash on the curb, and not worry about it, than it is sorting it, and in my city's case, DRIVING it to the recycling center and sorting it there yourself. (Yes, my City Hall voted, and long story short, they suck!) I even called them about setting up Recyclebank here, no one seems to care.

Convince me!

If you look at cloth diapering you'll see that one detergent is a standout brand amongst its competitors for this area of specialty. Rockin Green and Cloth Diapering seem to go hand in hand. Most sites that sell or cater to you Crunchy Granola  Mothers (Its a joke, good natured ribbing, I apologize for my sense of humor) will also sell Rockin Green. Rockin Green is memorable, it's catchy names and scents unforgettable.
Rockin Green names it's detergent types Soft Rock, Classic Rock, and Hard Rock. Isn't that cute?

Just because Rockin Green works wonderfully on cloth diapering does not mean that that is all it can be used for. No sir!
Rockin Green is super environmentally friendly because you use so little per wash. This ensures it lasts a long time. As far as the bag they sent to me?
I haven't made a dent in yet.

As far as they scent, well Motley Clean and Smashing Watermelon (which they were kind enough to include a large sample of) smell pretty good. I would prefer a much stronger scent though. I love a scent that lingers on clothes.
What was funny to me, if that on the back of the bag, it states how the smell rinses clean. Like that was a good quality.. then, I figured that for cloth diapers that actually WOULD be desirable.
OK, I get it now, you wouldn't want all that fragrance on baby's sensitive skin. Ahhh, I see!
Blonde moment passed!
Overall, I would definitely purchase Rocking Green and will probably continue to do, whether or not I switch to cloth diapering. I would give them 10 stars out 10 stars.
If I gave out stars.
:)

Long story short, I love the prices and this detergent did work wonderfully on a few stained clothes Giana made.
Ok, who am I kidding, way more than a few. This soap does pay for itself. But I am not totally convinced Cloth Diapers would. Why do they have to be soooo expensive?

Cloth diapering is actually more economical and much better for the environment. We need to think years ahead to what we are leaving our children. When we teach them green habits and practice them ourselves, we leave to them a legacy of cleaner air, water and open spaces.

I actually like using cloth diapers. With disposables you dont even think about using them except when you get close to running out and have to go buy more. It's kinda fun trying out new styles and colors. My current fave is the new Fuzzibunz Elite. Doing the extra laundry is no problem and not gross as some people think it would be. And I wouldnt want to wear plastic underwear so I dont think baby should have to either.

I didn't cloth diaper my baby because it was "weird and disgusting". I DID cloth diaper my last 2 babies because I read about how easy they are to use and how much money they saved us. AND no harmful chemicals against baby's precious skin like disposables have. Modern cloth diapering is NOTHING like what cloth diapering of years past was like. It's very easy now. We used pocket diapers and I found them to work just like disposables pretty much. If you happen to breastfeed, that poo is completely water soluble until they start solids so washing is a breeze. AND cloth diapers are so CUTE with all their pretty designs :)

I've got to say that I am with you on this one! I KNOW that it is better for the environment, but with the economy the way it is, it just doesn't seem to make FINANCIAL sense to me to switch to cloth diapers ....

Since my children were babies when cloth diapers were the norm, I can definitely see both sides. Although they are much more pricey now, I thing most would agree they are not only better for the environment, but really cheaper in the long run, especially if you plan on having more than 1 child. That being said, disposables are great to have in the diaper bag for trips out of the house!
