Going Gaga Over Lala: Everything You Need To Know About Lalaloopsy

Do you think dolls are ideal toys for little girls? There are lots of different dolls sold nowadays that have, in one way or another, captured the fancy of little girls everywhere. Barbie, Cabbage Patch Kids, and Bratz are just some of the popular kinds of dolls which little girls go gaga on. How Lalaloopsy Dolls Were Born

Lalaloopsy dolls originally went by the name Bitty Buttons, a line of rag dolls and their matching “pets” manufactured and produced by Micro-Games America (MGA) Entertainment. They started making these around the third quarter of 2010 beginning with eight dolls namely Crumbs Sugar Cookie, Jewel Sparkles, Peanut Big Top, Bea Spells-a-Lot, Mittens Fluff 'N' Stuff, Dot Starlight, Pillow Featherbed, and Spot Splatter Splash. They changed the name from Bitty Buttons to Lalaloopsy, a move proving to be a really good one as it spurred the popularity of the dolls.

These small, 13-inch dolls are such darlings that they were even recognized as one of the hottest toys during that time. Sales have surged since its launch and have peaked during the holiday season. This prompted the manufacturing company to create more dolls during the first quarter of 2011. Patch Treasurechest, Blossom Flowerpot, and Tippy Tumblelina were the lucky ones that were added to the roster. More dolls eventually followed suit soon after as Marina Anchors, Sahara Mirage, and Misty Mysterious were introduced on June 28, 2011. This was also the time when accessories and play-sets were produced and sold as well.

The success of Lalaloopsy prompted MGA to introduce mini-versions as well as special or holiday-themed dolls. If you find its size to be really petite, well you’re in for more surprises as MGA also created even smaller dolls called Lalaloopsy Littles, otherwise known as siblings of the main dolls. As of January this year, there are 52 Lalaloopsy characters. Additional accessories and play sets allow for a more enjoyable doll time for kids.

 

Why Should You Buy Lalaloopsy

MGA created Lalaloopsy in the hopes of teaching kids from everywhere the value of individuality. It is also made to cultivate kids’ inner creative potential which can be facilitated with the use of the matching accessories that come with the dolls. Lalaloopsy dolls have a tagline of “Sew magical – Sew cute.” They marketed these dolls to have a unique character or “personality” of their own which is signified by the materials used in manufacturing them. Thus, kids will have a great time playing with their Lalaloopsy dolls because they could relate to their dolls’ identity or personality.

However, parents must note that this line of dolls and accessories contain small items that may not be ideal for very young kids. Thus, discretion must always be applied when buying them. You don’t want to be a cause for potential accidents by giving inappropriate gifts to very young kids.

Judging from the immense popularity that Lalaloopsy enjoys right now, I’d say there’s a high chance they would be around for a long time. Young girls’ thirst for everything that’s cutesy and girly won’t end anytime soon. If MGA plays their cards right, they would stay in business for a long time just by selling Lalaloopsys. Now that is one thing to really go gaga about!
