AMERICAN REUNION released JULY 10, 2012 (review)

JULY 10, 2012

“The best slice of Pie yet!”- Jake Hamilton, FOX-TV
OVERVIEW:  The entire cast of American Pie returns to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion in the outrageous comedyAmerican Reunion, available on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, and On Demand, with a never-before-seen unrated version, on July 10, 2012 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.  In one long-overdue weekend, old friends will reconnect, old flames re-ignite and everyone will rediscover just how much fun you can pack into one hilarious weekend.
It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity.  In the years that have passed, Jim (Jason Biggs, Life Happens, “Mad Love”) and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan, “How I Met Your Mother”) got married while Stifler (Seann William Scott, Role Modelsstill refuses to grow up. Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas, Please Give) and Vicky (Tara Reid, “Scrubs”) said goodbye while Oz (Chris Klein, American Dreamz) and Heather (Mena Suvari, “American Horror Story”) grew apart.  Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas, “How to Make It in America”) still longs for Stifler’s mom (Jennifer Coolidge, Legally Blonde) and Jim’s dad (Eugene Levy, Best in Show)is learning to date.  The hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend return as American Reunion brings this beloved franchise back with “flat out hilarious, raunchy fun” (Pete Hammond, Box Office Magazine).
The American Reunion Blu-ray Combo Pack delivers the film in perfect hi-def picture and perfect hi-def sound.  The Blu-ray Combo Pack also includes UltraViolet, a DVD and a Digital Copy of the film – so consumers can truly enjoy the movie anytime, anywhere, on the device of their choice!   UltraViolet is the revolutionary new way for consumers to collect movies and TV shows and put them in the cloud.  From there, they can download and stream instantly to computers, tablets and smartphones.  In addition, consumers can redeem a Digital Copy of the film from a variety of retail partners, who offer many viewing options including iTunes®, iPad®, iPhone®, iPodtouch, Android, connected televisions, Blu-ray player apps and more!
  • THE “REUNION” REUNION:  RE-LAUNCHING THE SERIES: Go behind the scenes with Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, and the rest of the original cast.  They’ll reveal some of the unique challenges in reuniting the group, and reflect on moments from making the film.
  • JIM’S DAD: From tweezing his infamous eyebrows to online dating, Jim’s dad slowly enters the singles’ scene with some help from Jim and Michelle.
  • OUCH! MY BALLS!: While on set, Jason Biggs, Chris Klein, and many other members of the male cast started the unique hobby of “crotch-blasting”.  See the spark of this unusual craze and its ensuing, widespread popularity.

It has been so long I had almost forgotten about my old friends. I have watched them blossom into Amazing Actors/Actresses and their careers have taken off since they first made love to pastries. :)

I love Jim: Jason Biggs ( my favorite of him is Saving Silverman ) and Nadia, played by Shannon Elizabeth ( who moved onto roles that I loved her in such as 13 Ghosts & Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.. among others)

Who else?

Vicky - Tara Reid, Miss Reformed Hot Mess who needs her own celebrity island..

Oz aka Chris Klein has starred in many a memorable role, but especially for his roles in Just Friends & Say it Isn't So.

Sean Willimas Scott is just as funny as Stiffler as he is in Role Models and others...  other notable charecters are the longstanding Eugene Levy, Stiflers mom, we are familiar with from Legally blonde and even  Mena Suvari (American Beauty) & Alyson Hannigan (How I met Your Mother & Buffy)

It's pretty safe to see this popular movie series bloomed many sucessful stars in it's wake. The movies are popular with teens and adults alike, ranchy coemdic humor, lot's of "privates" & sex jokes & slight nudity in all of the movies-- so not safe for kids, but funny for adults!!!

This is the 4th movie in this series: American Pie is the original and the most popular though. American Pie 2, which some of the Audience has lost interest by that point, and said it wasn't as good, but I loved it just as much as the first, and obviously, I wasn't the only one- or FOX would've never made the 3rd, American Wedding!!, American Wedding, released on August 1, 2003, so it's been a hwile sicne we saw these charecters, and I assumed their time had passed! I wasw wrong Fox surpirsed me with another movie, the 4th i nthe series, American Reunion..
What's next after this, American Grandkids or American Nursing Home?

A backhanded joke, but still pretty true. Heck, I'll be in the nursing home watching it, who am I kidding?

I think that all of the movies are well written, and this one is definitely on par with the rest, and by far better than American Wedding, which I didn't much care for.

I have to admit, I was shocked at how much I enjoyed this movie, and I suppose I did miss it's characters!!! I love the modern jokes, that they poked fun at twilight, and that their still up to the same old same old, getting drunk, partying, and having wild sex, only as adults (as they should've waited until all along!!!) Just because your old doesn't mean you dead! I love that Jason is married to Alysons character in the story, and it shows them dealing with the same challenges with parenting like we all do ourselves!!
