What we thought:
I guess the teasers of this movie were totally leading you to think this is something other than it is. Both my husband and I remembered the comedy about the neighborhood watch group... yet neither of us realized it was a slapstick comedy about an alien invasion until somewhat mid-beginning of the movie. Even though it wasn't what we expected the movie is all in good fun.
I'd have to say probably not as funny as I would have thought, but definitely a good way to spend the night curled up on the couch with the hubby. You know how sometimes you get a movie from Redbox, or wherever you rent/see them from, and you just think that you have wasted a few hours of your life, and kinda want your money back? (LOL!) This is NOT one of those movies. I'd give it 4 stars out of five for originality.

One hint on advice, this movie is VERY foul in places, do not let little kids be in adjoining rooms, or in front of the T.V. during scenes of this movie. Mine likes to try to peep at them (shes 7) and I had a couple of gasps and ushering her out quickly during this movie. Kinda dirty. But I like "offensive" movies, I am just warning you for the kiddies ears only.

It definitely has the all-star cast down pat.
Ben Stiller is in a league of his own, and when adding in a comedic king like Vince Vaugn .. I mean, come on! With those two guys alone it's a must-see. Plus when you add in the ever-hilarious Jonah Hill you know you're in for a treat! I am not sure who the other guy in the movie is, he's kind-of a no-namer for me, Richard Ayoade.. I a sorry to his fans that I do not recognize him. Let me go Google him real quick for you.. BRB..

.
Ok, I'm back!
Here's what I found out for you. (To save you the a few seconds from googling him yourself!)
Per Google:  Richard Ellef Ayoade is an English comedian, actor, writer and director, best known for his roles as Dean Learner in Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and Maurice Moss in The IT Crowd.
No wonder I don't know who he is, but I am sure he does probably have a rather large fan-base.

***SPOILER ALERT!!!***

I love the twist one of them is an alien, and instead of turning on the crew, helps them banish the other aliens!!!

Even though I like Ben Stiller’s movies, they’re not the kind of movies I’m willing to pay to own though. One of my coworkers at DISH recommended this one to me, telling me this was Stiller’s best movie in a while, and so I decided to give it a chance. I decided to put it in my Blockbuster @Home rental queue and rent it. Blockbuster@Home through DISH and that’s how I rent my movies, and the good news is that I can afford to rent it (and many other movies) for a low and flat monthly fee.
