#nsnation Nutrisystem's new Chef’s Table ™ Collection

To make room for their new pantry food items for 2012, they’ve retired some of the older menu options. While this is great; I am incredibly sad about the biscotti being gone. It was my favorite of the dessert/snacks.

Nutrisystem is pleased to bring to you new chef inspired and created meals called Chefs Table. These steam in bags are frozen meals that have a fresh look (and taste!) to add a little variety to the Nutrisystem diet.

Nutrisystem really works with you to help bring to you what you want. My next post will be a Q & A with one of their Press Representatives, Meredith Bandy. I have some questions I know my friends and family have asked, and I am dying to interview her. Before I get those off to her this Friday.. if any of you have any questions you would like me or her to answer, do comment on this post and I'll get you those answers.

In the short time I have been a Nutrisystem blogger there are so many things that I have learned, in such a short amount of time. Nutrisystem's meal deliveries- for example; are totally customizable. For instance; did you know that if you wanted to eat all the same thing everyday for a month on the Nutrisystem diet that you CAN? My newest order was cut down, by my choice to my favorites only, I ended up with a lot of the same thing. Which to me- was better than one of everything of things I didn't 100% enjoy.

Enough of that. Lets talk about the new Chef's Table meals.
What I thought of each one.
Whole Wheat Ricotta Crepes
What is it?
Crepes in a tomato sauce finished with a basil infused olive oil.

Created by Chef Tony Mantuano.

What did I think?
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this meal's taste an eight. I was a little skeptical that I would even like it. It looks delicious  On the packaging, and out of it. But I associate crepes with sweet breakfast food. I am not sure why, I just did not know what to expect. The tomato sauce was robust and tangy- not bland at all. The ricotta was creamy, and helped my "cheese/fat" crave that I still cannot kick.  I just placed the bag in the microwave for five minutes and it was ready. Pour onto a plate and voila. One thing- I appreciate the frozen meals because I am strange about shelf-stable meats. But I also like the frozen meals because most of them- except for the pocket/sandwiches/omelettes have their own little plate you eat it off of. I am very lazy at times when the husband is deployed about housework. The frozen meals can come in handy because they have their own little trays. These have to be poured onto a plate. That was a little bit messy to say the least. Most of the sauce got stuck in and around the corners of the bag.

Moroccan Inspired Chicken

What is it?
Spiced white meat chicken, chick peas and toasted almonds, with spinach and cinnamon bulgur wheat.

Created by Chef Michael Solomonov.

What did I think?
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this meal a 6. It looks totally different out of the package than it does on it. The food is all mixed up which did not affect the taste, it probably helped it. But it did not look very tasty to me. Everyone has different opinions about food, and you might love it. While this was not my cup of tea, I can appreciate how healthy it was. It was edible, and not disgusting, just not something I could see myself choosing for me to eat. I like that it came with spinach. I love spinach. Spinach is something I probably should incorporate more into my diets, and I wish Nutrisystem incorporated more into their meals. Some of the omelettes do have spinach in them - I think, but do not quote me as 100% sure on that. My new food delivery is coming soon, so I will pay better attention. (oops!) I know almonds are also extremely good for you. Almonds are very high in absorbable protein. The chicken was the best part, I think I just did not care for the "sauce" that was on the chicken that also was all over the wheat and spinach. Maybe it was just the wheat (rice?) I am not sure what it is.. but I do not think I cared for it. But I did eat it anyway.

Last but not least!
Citrus BBQ Glazed Pork
What is it?
Pork slices in a citrus chipotle sauce coupled with mango salsa and charred corn.

Created by Chef Kent Rathburn.

What did I think?
I give this one on a scale of 1 to 10, a seven. Once again; this product look extremely appetizing on the package; but quite different inside. Like the product reviewed above, it was all mixed and sloppy looking. While that likely helped the Moroccan Inspired Chicken; it did not help the Citrus BBQ glazed Pork. However- that being said, I did enjoy this product a lot. The pork was tender, and although at first bite I was unsure of mangoes in BBQ sauce, but the next few and by meals complete I was on board. It was an unusual little firework of flavors that usually are not paired but I did appreciate. Mangos are tasty and who would have thought it would taste well together? I know of other places that mix them. I would just have never tried them. I am glad I did. I wish there was more pork, but the point of Nutrisystem is to cut back on your portions . My stomach is not yet 100% agreeing with going along with this. Only slightly, grudgingly is it coming along. The only thing I did not appreciate was the charred corn. It was not bad, per se; just was strange with the BBQ sauce on it. Perhaps if it had not been all mixed up I would have liked it better. J

Ok here is my 1 question... How is the diet able to curb the appetite with the foods that are supplied while maintaining the feeling of staying full without gaining?

Do you have to order the frozen food, or is there a cookbook you can buy to make the food yourself? I am not a huge fan of frozen food. Also, is there a tracker or any kind of accountability system for the people who use it?

I thought shelf stable and frozen foods were high in carbs, sodium, and preservatives. How can you lose weight eating that? Also would you recommend nutrisystem for people with high blood pressure?
