FOOD DAY inspires Americans to change their diets and our food policies through more than 8,000 events nationwide

Screening at EatingWell.com From October 5-12 ahead of Nationwide Release; Entire Film Available for Screening Online at Media Sites Upon Request
WASHINGTON, DC – Every October 24, thousands of events all around the country bring Americans together to celebrate and enjoy real food and to push for improved food policies. This year Food Day is partnering with award-winning filmmaker, designer and philanthropist Susan Rockefeller to release her acclaimed new documentary Food For Thought, Food For Life for free online and in conjunction with thousands of events nationwide.
The mission of the 20-minute film – which was an official selection at the Short Film Corner at Cannes 2015 and at the 2015 Sarasota Film Festival and other top festivals – and its extensive nationwide outreach campaign is to start a conversation about the food system, bringing everyone to the table to address how we think about, produce, and choose what we eat, and to make lasting changes as individuals, communities, and for our earth as a whole.
“We are thrilled to partner with Susan Rockefeller on the online release of this remarkable film,” said Food Day campaign manager Lilia Smelkova. “By providing our partners at over 8,000 events nationwide with access to the film we can ensure Food Day will impact in even greater ways in 2015. This film is inspiring and will serve to energize those who will be participating in Food Day events across the country.”
“It’s an honor to partner with Food Day and to play a role in helping reach millions about the food issues that affect each one of us,” said Susan Rockefeller.
ABOUT THE FILM
We want our food fast, convenient and cheap, but at what cost? As farms have become supersized, our environment suffers and so does the quality of our food. Food for Thought, Food for Life, a new documentary from director Susan Rockefeller (HBO’s Christopher Award-winning documentary Making The Crooked Straight, Planet Green’s A Sea Change) explains the downsides of current agribusiness practices, and also introduces us to farmers, chefs, researchers, educators, and advocates who are providing solutions. The film is both poetic and practical; its powerful examination of the connections between our planet and our well-being is accompanied by specific strategies that protect both. With an eye towards a sustainable and abundant future, it offers inspiration for communities that are ready to make a difference.
Punctuated by the words of environmentalist Wendell Berry, earth-inspired artwork, and uplifting music, the film highlights organizations and people doing things right. From the forward-thinking practices of Chef Dan Barber and Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture to guerrilla gardener Ron Finley’s transformation of urban neighborhoods, the ways we can start a revolution are varied and exciting.
“I sought out to develop a film that educates people about the negative impact our current methods of agriculture have on the earth,” said Rockefeller, a creative conservationist and social entrepreneur. “In addition to providing vital information, the film gives viewers the necessary tools to make a difference in their own lives. It explores the connection between the planet and our health and suggests that strengthening that connection will only benefit our future.”
“In everything I do – from my previous documentary Mission of Mermaids to my jewelry collections – my goal is to start a conversation about the things I’m most passionate about and empower people to take small actions that produce big changes,” Rockefeller continued. “Conversation leads to collaboration, and together we can find local and global solutions that help the planet and ourselves. Food Day is the perfect partner in our work to bring attention to these vitally important issues.”

#werthersCaramel NEW: Werther’s Original Caramel Popcorn #movieNight #werthersPopcornParty! #spon

I love the new Werther's Popcorn and so do all of my friends who attended this party I had the last week of October for MommyParties.

NEW: Werther’s Original Caramel Popcorn

Perfectly popped corn wrapped with rich and creamy Werther’s Original Caramel. The Caramel Popcorn for Caramel Lovers!

They sent us a TON (note: 12 LRG bags) that I handed out with coupons to my friends and their kids who attended the party!

They also sent us the movie Soul Surfer to watch while we munch. Though this review is not of the movie, the movie was good, but the popcorn was even better.

The kit they shipped us came complete with invites, and recipe cards with recipe suggestions.

Although, I thought it would be MUCH better to come up with our own Werther's Caramel Popcorn recipe and this is what we came up with!!

WERTHER'S POPCORN TRAIL MIX!

Oh so easy to make, it can consist of any ingredients your little heart can dream up, although here are the delights we added into ours.

First I got colored ziplock sandwich baggies, but you can use Paper Bags (and decorate them, which is what we almost did!) and lay out your assortment of treats in different bowls with spoons.

We used:

NEW Werther's Caramel Popcorn

Marshmallows
M & M's (we used Pretzel, Peanut, Peanut Butter and Plain)
Gummies
Honey Roasted Peanuts

After the kids and we few moms got our perfect Werther's popcorn trail mix made (some sans Marshmallows, which surprisingly, wait- some kids don't like mini marshmallows... ??? What they hey!?) we all settled in to watch the movie.

After the first movie, we decided to ALSO watch another, a review sent to me called  Monsters University. Which we also loved. When all was said and done, all the bowls were cleaned out, all the sample bags of popcorn given out, and some very big (and satisfied) munched out tummies.

All in all, I learned of a new DELICIOUS snack: duh.. the WERTHER'S CARAMEL POPCORN, and I even made a new friend that day: Linette.

It was a perfect snack for a perfect Mommy Party on a perfect afternoon. Really!!  It was a good day!

And do yourself a favor: if you happen to see this in stores, grab a bag, it's not your typical caramel popcorn treat, since it has the oh-so-delicious WERTHER'S caramel on it, it tastes so much better than you are probably used to caramel popcorn tasting. Simply addictive, so BE careful; consume with caution!  Good night y'all! Thanks for reading Locomotion of Expressions.

DreamWorks’ Shrek The Musical @shreksteronline #DVDreview

The greatest fairy tale never told comes to life as never before in DreamWorks’ Shrek The Musical, the highly acclaimed Broadway production based on the smash-hit movie. Shrek The Musical received eight  2009 Tony Award® nominations including Best Musical, winning Best Costume Design of a Musical (Tim Hatley) and received a Grammy Award® nomination for Best Musical Show Album. Fans can join in on the performance with sing along Shrek-tastic songs on the Deluxe Edition Blu-ray™ + DVD + Digital HD™ or single-disc DVD!
We absolutely loved all of the songs, dances and how hilarious each character was. The actress playing Fiona was super funny! My daughters loved Shrek anfd Donkey the best though!  as she performed her songs and dance routines. I think she was my daughter's favorite in this and Donkey of course was my little boys favorite as he is in the cartoon movies. I was cleaning the house and dancing around sweeping the living room as they watched it. How is that for multi-tasking? All the while probably checking email on my Blackberry. :-)

But, this is definitely a great add to your Shrek movie collections. A great movie for the entire family that will have you singing and dancing along as you watch! Buy it now!

First look at #superhero pups in Disney’s ‘Super Buddies’ #SuperBuddies by Gigi

Disney proves that super heroes come in all genders, shapes and sizes and even animals and if you wanna be more specific; animal breeds! The cute little puppies are back for more in their 7th film.

It all started with 5 Air Bud movies that spun-off into the now more widely knows as "Disney Buddies" have seven movies under their belt, 12 total if you count the Air Bud movies.
They sure have been around for a while and it looks like they are here to stay. I remember growing up with animal movies, where they have actual animals speaking, dubbed by human voices and that was BIG back then. Apparently it is still an entertaining as ever, except infinitely more realistic now.
Those dogs must be highly intelligent to play these roles. They have these pups doing all kinds of tricks, not just standing there talking, which if you think about it: would be hard enough to do. I am always watching them thinking "HOW DO THEY TRAIN THEM TO DO THAT?!?!"

Every time a new "Buddies" movie comes out, I'm like- "Geez!" But not because I am tired of them, more because these dogs have more fun, and get around even better than I do!! With their adventures finding treasures, dealing with ghosts, playing sports, going to space, frolicking around in the snow... What's next buddies? Perhaps they will work in a restaurant they can call the movie: "Chef Buddies"  or be in a band!!  "Rock Buddies!!"   (:

Whatever they do with it, or wherever these pups go, I know my kids will not be far, watching them with tunnel vision.

Watch the fur fly as a new breed of super hero is born in Disney’s fun-filled adventure.
An ordinary day at Fernfield Farms turns extraordinary when Budderball, Mudbud, B-Dawg, Buddha and Rosebud discover mysterious rings that grant them each a unique super power. Before you can say, “Buddies, assemble,” the pups unleash their amazing abilities and race to the rescue when a shape-shifting bully from outer space threatens the planet. But can they succeed in kicking major tail without revealing their new secret identities?
A must-own movie packed with laughter, action and incredible new characters, Super Buddies proves that when you use your wits and work together, you don’t need super powers to be a super hero!

About the Movie
An ordinary day at Fernfield Farms turns extraordinary when Budderball, Mudbud, B-Dawg, Buddha and Rosebud discover mysterious rings that grant them each a unique super power. Before you can say, “Buddies, assemble,” the pups unleash their amazing abilities and race to the rescue when a shape-shifting bully from outer space threatens the planet. But can they succeed in kicking major tail without revealing their new secret identities?

A must-own movie event packed with laughter, action and incredible new characters, ‘SUPER BUDDIES’ proves when you use your wits and work together, you don't need super powers to be a super hero!

What Gigi had to say:

"When I first started watching the movie I thought it was going to be a good movie, and I was right! It was! In the movie, 2 aliens, one bad- and one good fighting over five rings. These rings are not just any old rings though. If the dogs wear them they get special powers. You know: to fly, being lightning fast, being super stretchy, among other powers!
***SPOILER ALERT***
When the good alien crashes on Earth he uses the life form of a dog and he meets a little boy and they partner up for a while. They have been searching for the rings for a long time too.  They find the rings on the Buddies and they are trapped in a burning building!! What to do? Well, the alien dog save the buddies. That's how they get on the news. In the end, the puppies have the powers forever, because the rings/collars are theirs
My favorite part is: When the Princess lands on Earth and the alien dog turns back into an alien. The Princess Alien and the alien go back to their planet.. that part was super cool! This movie is so funny.

My favorite character is  Rosebud  because she's got spunk!!!"

Teen Beach Movie #movieReview by Gigi #surfsUP!~

What Gigi (age 8) said:

"Teen Beach movie is a musical with a bunch of cool songs. I watched this movie over and over and over and I was so excited to get it in the mail!!!

It has Ross Lynch (Brady) & Maia Mitchell (Mac) as the main characters. They get trapped in a 1960's beach movie! OH NO!!  What to do? Like most Disney movies, break out in song and find some true love. Romance is in the air for these lovebirds and the movie did capture my attention.

The story is about surfers and bikers that live on the beach. They all love Big Momma's a restaurant on the beach, where most of the story takes place. They are enemies though...

I think the movie was REALLY good and I would definitely watch it again!!"  (Gigi age 8)

Brady (Ross Lynch) and McKenzie "Mack" (Maia Mitchell), are high school sweethearts enjoying their time together surfing at the beach. Each time Brady mentions their best summer never ending, Mack looks guilty as if she is hiding something from him but he doesn't notice it. After coming back inside McKenzie's grandfather's hut, McKenzie sees that Brady is a fan of the film "Wet Side Story", a film set during the 1960s. In the film, bikers and surfers battle for which gang gets the privilege to hang out at Big Momma's, a local diner and hangout. Mack, however, does not like such shows, viewing it as silly and illogical (as in the characters start singing about things for no reason and when they go in the water their hair never gets wet). Brady later learns that Mack made a promise to her aunt that after her mother died she would attend a private school and they were to leave the next day.

Their picture of the fireflies.

Call it phosphorescent wall stickers, call it glow in the dark wall decals... whatever you call it or however you spell it, these wall decals glow in the dark when you turn off the lights... a lot of fun whether you're a little one or a grown up (or both at the same time!).
At night

These glow in the dark fun loving fireflies range in price from 55-$295.

Details about Glow Fireflies phosphorescent decals
Fireflies decals come in packs of 4:

I also like these counting sheep/lambs
Firefly phosphorescent decals : a cute set of 4 funny fireflies that will delight you as soon as you turn off the lights! I love that these little guys help light up the night, by making the bathroom seem less intimidating at night for the smallest (3), who gets up frequently to pee in the middle of night- and is often frightened. Not anymore.

I feel that most anything on the site would be a great gift for your sister, brother, niece, nephew, anyone really. They have decals of all colors and sizes, with custom orders available. Plus the option to preview what colors might look like paired against your colored walls. The sell canvases, glow in the dark decals, mirrors, decal clock towers, with working clocks, and more! Be sure to check out their decal coat racks that you can hang actual coats on with hooks they provide!!! Ordering is a breeze and shipping was too.

At dusk.

The decals have stood up to moisture in the bathroom, and always shine very bright. While its hard to see them during the day- it's that much cooler at night. Visitors are often surprised by them glowing at night when they weren't earlier during the day. They are so cute and playful! We love them. Glow in the dark wall decals only come in a light greenish color. No other colors available!

You hardly notice on the cream colored wall at a glance.

Their glow decals are made of premium phosphorescent material: fully charged it will brightly shine for 10 hours straight!!! It will recharge with the day light or with any artificial light. Turn the light back on to re-charge your phosphorescent decal again and again! Our products are easy to install. You can separate each firefly. In few minutes you will change dramatically the look of your room.
If you like this product, you may also like animal bulbs stick ons.
.
I also really wrestled with perhaps reviewing these stick on acrylic mirrors, like these hearts (a set of 24 3x3's are only $29) and the lips below are $65. The mirrored trees are neat too, starting at 95$!

@Netflix rolls out special edition summer family site, catch up on summer watching with this fab list! #ad

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Netflix.

We're in the middle of summer, and it's starting to come into the home stretch. You know, not quite new anymore. Sleeping in late, getting tired of having nothing to do, or worse- nothing to watch on television?

Being stuck at home with all this rain (if you live on the eastern side of the good old USA, we've had some Torrential downpour in the South). While I am not directly on the coast (anymore) I still live in Central Alabama, and Tropical Storm Chantal has been soaking the Atlantic coast for a bit, plus even before HER we had sooo much rain and tornadoes and thunderstorms. Lightning was quaking and thunder was literally shaking the floor of the houses. So with all that rain night and day, the kids have been stuck inside a bit more than they are used to. It can make your role as a parent become more challenging during the summer months, right?

When you're stuck at home during the summer, not wanting to go out in either the pouring rain, or the humid days you can use streaming Netflix (like my family does) to make the summer months less challenging.
Tracking Pixel Also, how do you make your family’s movie nights special with Netflix? We like to either make popcorn, or make cookies or brownies before the movie so we have a warm snack to munch on while we watch! Mindless eating, but memories as well!

I like that these movies on the newly- launched Family Movie List inspire creativity and bring my family closer together, giving us some fab summer memories. The other day, we watched Tinkerbell, (its been a while since it came out, so also a bit since my eldest has seen it and she wanted to watch it) she suggested that we paint our nails glittery while we watched it. Since I'm a little inattentive to cartoon kids movies (even though I pretend to be, I go a little ADD...) it's the perfect task to keep me occupied and hands busy while they watch. Then after the movie they (my 8 and 3 yr old girls) decided to get their Tinkerbell figurines out and play with their Barbies, playing fairies... they even got out their fairy wings too!

I feel I should also point out the categories are always spot-on too. Not your run of the mill genres, but more specific. My favorite category to scroll through is always "Catch-Up TV for Busy Parents". Because I sometimes don't know what to watch, but I love how they suggest and seem to know exactly what shows are good, that I would actually like.

I never experience any problems with my Netflix at home, and I love how regularly this brand puts new movies on their queue for us to watch, all while bringing it us LOADS cheaper than cable. Actually, we don't have cable- and haven't for a while. I just got tired of paying that much to only watch a few channels and have no control over whats is actually on. I got tired of flipping for 100$ a month. But perhaps one day we will turn it back on- but I am enjoying Netflix for now and have been for a while.

You should definitely check out the curated rows/lists from www.Netflix.com/Families. The best part is, even though it will (of course) ask you to sign up (and you should!) you should know that the new Netflix.com/Families page is available for both members and non-members! Just scroll down underneath the signup box, and it's all there.

I love that Netflix has things my girls haven't seen that is an oldie but goodie, like Jem and the Holograms!!! I used to LOVE to watch that cartoon/show when I was my eldest's age, and it is something nice to have on for background noise, and I find myself singing along.
Gigi watching Jem

Netflix is also green for the environment and your wallet, to keep you from buying new movies (or older ones) and that you don't leave your house  & spend your money- making it also economical and eco-friendly. :-) Also, I love saving my time standing in line to rent a movie from a machine and then trying to get it back on time. That's TWO trips. Not to mention if I DON'T return it on time, I have to pay for another day!!

Netflix.com/Families is a new destination designed to meet your family’s summertime entertainment needs. On Netflix.com/Families, parents can find lists of movies and TV shows for all kinds of special summer moments. Visit www.Netflix.com/Families for more information on the best ways to stream as well as videos from families using Netflix.
