#bct Things to do in Birmingham with children @bjCC @bct123org

I don't know about you, but I am forever looking for something fun, cheap, easy, and especially local- to do with my kids. Usually when you think BJCC, that is; the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center you think mostly adult themed activities, such as concerts or more recently, Paw Patrol visited there. But it would have been a little costly for the 5 of us to attend . At the tune of about 30 on average or more per ticket; it would've cost us over 150 to all go. I just don't usually have that kind of expendable funds. Like most, I live hand to mouth.
Although it would've been great to take them to that, you might not realize there are more things to do with kids at the BJCC. Today we attended a wee theatre showing that was around ten dollars per person.

This Saturday the 15th kicks off the public showing of the youth play of the Birmingham Children's Theater : Rumpelstilskin.
Showings : September 15th, 22nd & 29th @ 10:00 AM & 12:00 PM

My family got to attend a more private showing this morning, and we were blown away. Very ironically, my child's father and I had a discussion about this Brothers Grimm tale some years ago when I was pregnant  with our first child.
I remarked, "Rumplestilskin will take our first born!" To my amazement he replied "who?" He had never ever heard this fable before. Today I got to watch it with said baby our first born son, who is now 3 almost 4. So strange.

#ad Teespring crowdfunding helps you raise money for a cause or yourself. #sponsored #review

Teespring allows you to create & sell custom tees with zero upfront costs, and zero risk.

Teespring is a crowdfunding platform for groups, causes and communities to design and sell custom apparel. Anyone can come and design a shirt which they can then sell via Facebook, Twitter or anywhere else online. The seller keeps all of the profit the shirt earns. People use Teespring as a fundraising tool or just to earn some extra money. The best part is the shirts don't print and ship until a set end date determined by the seller. This means they pay nothing upfront, take no risk and don't have to deal with the hassle of ordering the right number of shirts.

I checked out Teespring, and designed a Locomotion of Expressions shirt with the header of this blog. The site was fast and responsive and easy to use! The only issue I encountered personally- was that my header apparently has more than 10 colors, and I haven't the slightest how to edit it to not have so many colors, so I would have to use another image for my shirts. I love how on the homepage they show you clip art of others people shirts and projects and causes, and I had fun clicking through them and reading their missions. I love how you can make money all without ever stepping foot out of the house, and get your cause out to millions who can help you realize your dreams and make them an actuality.

Testimonials What people are saying

“I sold over 800 shirts and made $6,000 on a campaign that took me less than 10 minutes to create and didn't cost me a dime! An incredible tool.”
- Peter Krumins Browserling.com
“Teespring is the perfect no-cost way to test the strength of your brand's merchandise. We found our biggest fans through our campaign.”
- Josh Catone TheFluffingtonPost.com

You can play with the designer if you go to teespring.com/design

Here are some cool examples of what people have done with the site.

Our Moran Theater Elmo Makes Music Experience

Our Moran Theater "Elmo Makes Music" experience was courtesy of USFamilyGuide.com and I sooo appreciated the tickets.
Those who know us well know that my daughter is a HUGE elmo fan.. She got an elmo costume this year for Halloween & almost every toy she owns is Sesame Street related.. so it's only natural we would go!

Read the review of the Elmo Shirt (pictured, above) from Mi Cielo
We went in September, and I gotta admit  I had a great time and I know the kids did too. The show was just the right length, not too long, and not short. I appreciated the long intermission for a bathroom break.

The Moran Theater was really pretty and well taken care of. We had no issues while there whatsoever.

There was no waiting for parking, waiting in long line (expect the bathroom on intermission, naturally) and overall, I think everyone (even the Hubby) had a good time.

I.absolutely loved the concessions (those glazed nuts were FANTASTIC!) and the prices on the Sesame Street Memorabilia wasn't bad either. We bought an Elmo Hat (pictured below!) for like 8$!

I would definitely recommend taking your youngsters to see this show, if you interested, and there are more shows this year!

Look for them here: The remaining shows throughout the end of the year are in TX, KY, AL, & MS!

The Moran Theater is beautiful!
Below I have included pictures of all the things related to the show:
The kids before we left the house that morning, the kids waiting for the show to start, pictures of the show in progress, and of Devonnys MANY "Elmo Toys" and even of her this year Trick or Treating a few weeks ago, in the Elmo Costume we reviewed so many months ago!!!
Hope y'all enjoy them!!!

Special Thanks toSesame Street Live: Elmo Makes Music for letting us attend the show.

PS The other pictures at the VERY bottom were of THE USO Sesame Street Show they performed on base this weekend. Unfortunately my military status did NOT get us into that for free, and they sold out within a matter of days, because when I called about it- they were all gone! :(
I wasn't too sad though, since the kids had already seen one Sesame Street/Elmo show this year!!!

This was as close as I got to the Military Show on Base this past weekend.

Mark your calendar for a musical event like no other-monsters making music! Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird and all their Sesame Street friends are taking to the stage to share their love of music in Sesame Street Live "Elmo Makes Music."
Jenny, an enthusiastic new music teacher, arrives on Sesame Street only to discover that her instruments are missing. Jenny's new Muppet friends quickly come to the rescue and discover 'instruments' they never knew existed...rubber duckies, trash can lids and even cookie jars. Elmo and friends teach children that everyone can make and enjoy beautiful music together.
Adults will hear music they'll recognize and enjoy sharing with children, such as "The Hustle," "You Should Be Dancing" and "Rockin' Robin." "Elmo Makes Music" features nearly two dozen songs, including classics that children will love to sing along with such as "C Is for Cookie" and "The Alphabet Song."

#holidaygiftguide -- Strawberry Shortcake: Jammin' With Cherry Jam

The glow of friendship shines brighter than the spotlight when Strawberry and her pals meet superstar Cherry Jam! Get ready for a rockin' good time as the girls face stage fright, work to impress a talent scout and consider moving to Berry Big City. Along the way, they learn that fame and fortune can be fun, but there's nothing more important than friendship.

This movie is $9.86 at Walmart!

$8.49 w Free Super Saver Shipping at Amazon

The household loves the newer Strawberry Shortcake shows. These shows lighten up an entire room and set a great mood. The music is cute and upbeat  and really makes me want to dance. She was watched it a TON and I almost know the words to some of the songs, by heart. I was humming it earlier today without even realizing it!

This DVD has about four or five episodes--and it has auto-play as well-- which is great because I like to put movies like these on for my toddler while my eldest is at school, and really get some work done around the house. Or just distract her long enough for me to get dressed without having the (sometimes) already clean house terrorized (flipped upside down) while I do so!
If a disc has four or five episodes, and  have to start each one.. needless to say- she's two, and doesn't know how to do that- so while I am unknowingly in the shower, lathering my life and worries away... meanwhile my toddler has gotten stuck on a menu screen, and has gotten bored and is starting to get into everything, unbeknownst to me.. lathering my life away.

Ok it's a long story-- but you get the point. I place high value on DVDs with auto-play.

We all (of all ages) look forward to every new DVD that comes out with the new Strawberry Shortcake shows. None of us care for the old Strawberry Shortcake much, but the newer ones are great! Great because they are so vividly colored, and the stories are so much more engaging than they used to be. You really get caught up in watching them.
Another thing I love is that she is a good role model to my little girls, an easy brand to find, and the DVDs are affordable!! If your lil' diva loves girly character's and doesn't already watch this series, it's definitely worth a look-see!!!~

Strawberry Shortcake returns in a fun, new adventure this fall! In Jammin’ With Cherry Jam, Strawberry Shortcake’s friends surprise her by inviting her favorite singer, superstar Cherry Jam, to perform at the grand opening of the Marketplace. The star struck girls do not know that the real Cherry isn’t anything like her rock diva persona, but just an ordinary girl who wants to be accepted as one of their friends.
