High-quality, innovative reusables - plus facts, news and simple actions you can take to help the cause!
I love re-purposing things, and doing my part to reduce my carbon footprint. I don't know how you could not be aware, but those little plastic shopping bags the stores use are the devil! :)
I say this because they are made of plastic. It doesn't go back to the earth for thousands of years, it is hazardous to animal life, and just an all around nuisance. If you agree, you should check out Reuseit.com's totes & shopping bags.
A lot of people are more aware now, and doing their part to help. So if you haven't jumped on this bandwagon yet, then it is definitely time.
The problem we have with our reusable shopping bags is we just have too many. People's shopping patterns and habits vary greatly. Perhaps growing up poor(er) than most makes me realize when you have money for groceries go ahead and get them.I use coupons and fill UP a buggy (shopping cart to those up north). That being said- I need almost every single one of the bags we use. I have cold bags and thicker bags, and clerks and baggers haven't yet realized how to utilize these properly. My hope is that with more experience as more and more people use them, I won't have to instruct them along the way. This is why I love self-checkout. I just do it myself, you know? If ever I am out without my bags, and I do get one of those dreaded plastic baggies, I always make sure to not put it in the trash, and I save them. Until I have a good bit of them. I recycle them back at the store. In case you didn't know, most stores do have a designated area for returning the plastic bags to be recycled.

Read the (above) blog post on Reuseit.com's site about using re-usable bags!!
The fact that we have so many bags, is why when I saw this Reisenthal Easybag I loved it right away. I have problems with putting my coupons in the buggy as I use them. Because I am so careless with them, they often fall out of the slots of the shopping cart! The Reisenthal EasyBags are neat because they have a little zippered pouch for coupons to go in, plus the roll up into little slender (folded resembles sort-of umbrella shaped) totes, that makes easier for handling, travel and storage.
I suppose I looked silly snapping pictures of them as I walked around the store, but it was funny because several people did comment and ask me where I had found such neat little bags. I am sure people haven't seen such a neat innovation like this before.
The bags are designed to sit along, with plastic "clips" the edges of the cart just so.
Although the Walmart cart seemed slightly bigger than the bags might be designed for, I was able to fit them, but it was quite snug.
I did learn one thing, and I can tell you do not put too much weight in them. I don't know if you can tell from my pictures, but in the Wal-Mart cart, they bags didn't quite touch the bottom. The cart is designed so that it goes slightly downhill in depth, the top part closer to the child's seat is taller from rim to bottom, and the back of the buggy is smaller from rim to bottom. The bag closest to the baby (my sweet, sweet baby, Devonny) did not touch the bottom, as more weight went into it, the little plastic "*clips" (although they aren't really clips, as they do not really attach, more sit along the "*rim" of the cart.) started to bend, and looked like the might break if I put too much weight in. This being said, some carts may be different and maybe not a one-size-fits-all.
"With these bags I simply place my groceries back into the bags hanging in the cart. I sort freezer and refrigerator into one and dry/pantry items into the other. No struggling with shaky hands and plastic bags that won't stand up. I can pack a large order in no time at all and not feel like I\'m holding up the whole line PLUS loading into the car requires only 2 lifts not 10 flimsy bags. PLUS unloading into the house is simply and the groceries are presorted. I LOVE these bags!!!!!!!!"
The bag sells on the Reuseit site for:
$17.95
OR 2+ price: $14.95 (17% off)
**Please excuse my obvious ignorance of shopping cart terminology.
