The Wild Soccer Bunch is a book series by Joachim Masannek (author) about a team that learn about teamwork ,friendship, and challenging rivals. The books are illustrated by a man named Jan Birck.
Giana played soccer all this year and loves to read, so what a perfect fit for her. I realize they are trying to promote their new release, but I was a little confused as to why we were sent book 2 of the series, instead of book 1. We received Diego the Tornado. Giana breezed through it quickly. While it is a chapter book, it is appropriate for ages 8+ . GiGi reads on a 3rd grade level so its perfect for her. It has a few illustrations, to help spark the child's imagination of character appearance. Overall, GiGi seemed to like it a lot. It's funny though since the series seems geared more towards little boys that she liked it. She is usually a pink princess to the core. She wouldn't even talk to little boys, or play with them. Now she plays soccer with them. She used to make me change the radio if a "boy song" came on. Looks like she is finally coming around. Book 3 is about Zoe. She would probably like that one the best.
I am a little confused about a few things ... on the website it says
"The series has 13 books to date"
... but they only sell 3? If the others are not published yet, then it would be three books to date? They should probably be a little more clear on that. Another thing I noticed on the website is you can "Pay With a Tweet" (Its an app you can authorize for your twitter to get song downloads or book previews) not whole books, usually, unless they are .pdf's - but the coupon code for the tweet, is for 10% and it is expired 12/10. I am not sure if the website administrators are aware of this? But no fear, I have one for you too (a different one!) for 10% .. below! It is good for the Wild Soccer Bunch store. The store has things that are exclusively sold there, like the jersey and the black soccer ball that is just like the one in the books!

My favorite part of the web store is the ball and jersey!
Its really neat when stories can get the children involved in a book by it's merchandise to keep the child interested in the story. With today's video games and televisions, and movies, kids really do needs to be outside playing more! Soccer is a great sport to encourage because of all the running and teamwork. I feel like if your child has an interest in soccer they would really appreciate these books!
