Tiny Prints
Tiny Prints is a company that lets you design and order personalized or pre-made paper goods. I get to help
them out for their Back To School promotion. They wanted to ask me, Casey Colette a question.
The question was--
What is memorable or momentous about this particular back-to-school season?
School last year was crazy. Giana had learned so much at home, there wasn't anything Kindergarten could really do with her besides teach her social skills. Not that she didn't need that- it was just a struggle. The gifted program in our area has been cut down to 4 hrs -- one day a week, off campus. There were zero field trips. She was so bored. I felt sorry for her. The work they had her doing was "baby-ish". And for her- it really was.
So this year, I was determined to not have a repeat of last year!
I found her a great christian school where the 1st graders all know cursive. So now, it is she who is trying to catch up. But it's good, because she actually- is finally being challenged. It was a new thing for us though. Private school. NOT a decision I entered into lightly. I knew that at home, I wouldn't be able to provide her the attention she would need. Her class grade is so small. I know she is getting a lot of attention. The teacher seems awesome, patient, caring and friendly.
The thing new (and memorable) to us this year was uniforms. I thought I wouldn't like them, but I really do. She looks adorable. What was really cool, is they do have uniforms, but there are 5 different pairs of shorts, and dresses, and jumpers, and some 20 different styles of shirts and colors. SO really, no one has the same uniform on everyday. They aren't strict on accessories and shoes, so she can still be herself in her uniform. they aren't stuffy as I assumed they would be. So if someone were to ask me, what was memorable about this school season back to school shopping, I would definitely say the uniform shopping. Picking out backpacks, lunchboxes... Shirts, skirts, dresses, tennis shoes & flats. She is big enough now to have input. Its so cute how she dresses herself.
Everyday I send her off to school now thinking- "My baby is all grown up!"
