Jumpstart online review and giveaway! ***CLOSED!!!***

The winner of this Blog Giveaway will win a three-month membership!

I found this really great online world/game and got the pleasure of reviewing it. To be honest, its nothing new. Well, the online world is for sure! But JumpStart on the other hand, has been around for a very long time. Giana seem to immerse herself into whatever work she does and is very computer literate. She loves to install games on my computer, (without asking sometimes too) and has done so for years., She is not even six yet, but fast approaching. I remember when she was really little and I used to laugh at her, she would find her dolls and stuffed animals and type the names of them into Google. She learned how to read very early. She was always cute, but now is getting so big and too smart for her own "britches". Well, we've always let her play on the computer. I think they say you are supposed to limit TV and computer time, but I am not really one of those parents. If she wants to play for three hours, it doesn't bother me, So long as its educational. I encourage her to go outside, naturally, but I try to let her do what she wants to do in terms of education. Shes so smart, I mean, why fix it if it isn't broken? She has always played Jumpstart, and I think learned a lot from those little games we bought so long ago at Best Buy. I think I still have them, and I am glad I do, now, for when Devonny is older.
In fact, what I am reviewing, the online world membership, includes FOUR downloadable JumpStart games. So, that means that when your membership is up, you will still have some of the games! I havent had a chance to get to those yet. There's so many areas to explore in this game. But we'll cover that below...

Giana's Experience with the game

Giana's favorite game/area on JumpStart is MarineLand. She said if she gets 15 more dollars, she'll get a tail in MarineLand! Exciting stuff, huh? Gigi said theres a kitty kat mermaid and a sea snake in Marine Land and it is "So cool!"

I asked Giana if she found anything hard about it... She said just Math Blaster. But even it wasnt that hard!

JumpStart.com includes a number of distinct areas and lands, all of which can be accessed from the map (available at the bottom left of the game screen).

StoryLand:
Come on in and have your kids read a story with the help of Frankie and his friends! They will learn to identify letters, numbers and shapes and meet friendly characters while playing fun games! Perfect for preschoolers.

What Giana thought:

Its cool you can have your own pet. I had two pets! A cat and a dog! You bathe and feethe and dress them... and they get to do their own fashion dance on the stage.

AdventureLand:
Your kids can team up with Frankie and explore JumpStart’s AdventureLand. They will embark on a journey to save a lost island from pesky little furballs known as Punk Punks while completing math, reading, art and critical thinking activities. Perfect for kindergarteners, 1st graders and 2nd graders.

What Giana thought:
I liked making my own house in my own neighborhood.

MarineLand:
Have your kids take a dive in the ocean and explore an underwater world. Completing reading, math and critical thinking missions to defeat the pesky Punk Punks will make your kids honorary MarineLand citizens! Perfect for kindergarteners, 1st graders and 2nd graders

What Giana thought:
I liked the cat mermaid and sea dragon (silly mommy!) She is standing here correcting my typos for me as I write, "Ummm, Mommy? You forgot to put a space in-between cat and the!"

FutureLand:
Are your kids ready to travel through time? Entering FutureLand will transport your kids to another era! FutureLand is a true brain builder with games that test reading, writing, arithmetic, science, math and history. Perfect for 3rd graders, 4th graders, 5th graders and beyond.

What Giana thought:
You can have wings and be a fairy!

Uncle Milton’s Amazing ScienceLand:
In Uncle Milton’s Amazing ScienceLand, your kids can learn Science facts while having fun! Insects and the solar system are only two of the challenging subjects your kids will tackle in Uncle Milton’s Amazing ScienceLand. Perfect for all ages

What Giana thought:
Wellllllll.. we couldnt exactly find this area easily. In fact, we never did, my husband and I both searched for it.. Which is a huge let down, because I would have loved for her to get some science skills as well. She hasn't really been fully introduced to any science that I know of.

UPDATE 15 minutes later.. We found it!

What Giana thought:
I Like the bouncy house. I said, "What kinda science did you learn?" She said, "I don't know..."

JumpStart Stadium:
Do your children like sports? They can join the fun at JumpStart Stadium to learn math, shapes and words by playing football, basketball and volleyball. Perfect for all ages.
Giana didn't get to explore this area before my review was due. There are a LOT of areas to explore, and we had just a little time to evaluate it. We actually had weeks, but we do have other things to do. Soccer, husband home from deployment, shopping, family, things of that nature.. So, when we had time, I had her playing it, but she tended to "hang out" in the same areas, frequenting only her favorite places, which usually involved creating things like houses, pets and avatars, she spent a good bit of time in math-blaster too though.

Enchanted Sanctuary:
Have your kids ever thought it would be cool to train their own dragon? In the Enchanted Sanctuary, your children can hatch and raise their very own mythical creatures! Perfect for all ages.
What Giana thought:
I like the dragon, you get to nurse it, feed it, and dress it up, bathe it and lots of other stuff. You have to collect 15 hearts before you get the dragon though. Its my favorite part so far. It has dragon heads and it is SO cool!

Poseidon’s Hangout:
This is the ultimate hangout for your kids’ Jumpeez. They can relax by the fire, watch a live band at The OctoLair or race boats in ShipWreck Lagoon. Perfect for 2nd graders and beyond.

Windy Hollows:
A magical world awaits inside Windy Hollows! Your kids can hunt for secret ingredients to brew up a potion, cast bewitching spells on their Jumpee friends and soar high above the clouds on a magical broomstick! Perfect for all ages.
She hasn't had time as of yet to play this area. But look out windy hollows, because I am sure she next week she will.

Why I like this game? Its perfect for anyone.. Kids of ALL ages and all computer skill levels. Its also perfect for families with one child, or multiple children because each player can have his or her own account, avatar and records. Giana loves designing her own characters and earning coins to purchase pets, clothes, and etc. I like that it also helps her with early money management skills.

There are many places to explore once you launch the game, some of which you may already be familiar with. The first is an area called StoryLand, aimed at 3-5 year olds. Children can also explore AdventureLand and MarineLand, designed for kids in kindergarten to second grade. In addition, children in 3rd to 5th grade may be interested in checking out FutureLand, geared towards older children. We also just launched our most popular area, the Enchanted Sanctuary, where kids can hatch and raise their own dragons!

I also recommend that you check out the downloadable games that are included with your membership. These games contain thousands of additional lessons and can be found under “Manage Account” > “Downloadables” when logged in at JumpStart.com

CONCLUSION?
She seemed to like the game over-all a LOT! To be honest, I did too. I like how in depth and detailed it is. I think for the money you would spend on membership, its an excellent choice! I once paid for Giana to have Disney Preschool online, and it was wicked expensive and not this good, but also for the level she was at, she probably wouldn't have learned as much on Jumpstart she was only 3 1/2. Amazing that she could navigate & manipulate a computer at that age huh? But I do know this, I had to hound her about the Disney pre-school towards the end of the member-ship, I think she got burnt out on it, and I wanted to make sure we got our moneys worth. But each child is different so figure out what works for yours.
